Best Burger Seasoning

Burgers and fries. The quintessential American meal. Everyone has their favorite bun (or lack thereof), topping combinations and variations. In my opinion, a delicious burger starts with good quality meat. But a little seasoning doesn’t hurt either. Grilling season is upon us, and this is the perfect mix to keep on hand for adding a kick to your basic burger. No preservatives, MSG, or sugar – just good flavor! While you’re at it, sprinkle some on your fries too (or even sweet potatoes!)

Pack it in a pretty bottle, label it, and give it as a gift to the grill master in your life (hint: Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are approaching.) Just don’t forget to make a double batch so you can have some of your own.

Best Burger Seasoning

  • 4 Tablespoons paprika
  • 4 Tablespoons salt (or to taste)
  • 2 Tablespoons garlic powder
  • 0.5 Tablespoons cumin
  • 0.5 Tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 Tablespoon ground black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoons celery salt (optional – Confession: I never seem to have this in my pantry.)
  • 0.5 Tablespoons dried basil


Combine all ingredients and store in an airtight container. Use in recipe for Seasoned Burgers or use as a seasoning for other grilled meats, roasted potatoes or french fries.

Storage Directions:

Store in an airtight container (glass preferred) in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months.

Servings: 12 Tablespoons (use 2 Tablespoons per pound of meat)

  1. That looks like a great seasoning mix. I like the robust amount of garlic. I always have smoked paprika on hand, so I’d probably do half and half with the regular stuff. Thanks for sharing.

    Way too much salt! I wouldn’t put any salt in it and just season the tops of the burgers when you make them.
