Enjoying the Season and a Trip to a Chateau

You have gone to the Chateau Ste. Michelle Facebook page and signed up for their Holiday calendar by now right?  Right?  If not – get on over there. I love that each day this month I have gotten a subtle “nudge” from Chateau.  And if you don’t check the calendar each day – don’t worry – they send you a little notice to remind you.  Each day has enabled me to truly enjoy the season – from “You+a glass of wine+ a few minutes to prepare for the holiday chaos” to “National Cookie Day – pair your favorite cookie with a glass of Riesling” (didn’t have to tell me twice – cookies and wine!) Chateau Ste. Michelle wines have been a favorite of mine for years.  So imagine my excitement that while attending the International Food Blogger Conference in Seattle this past September, I would also have the opportunity to visit Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery (insert squeals of delights, accompanied by jumping up and down, followed by more squeals!) And the tour did not disappoint.  We were greeted in front of the iconic “Chateau” (yes there is really a chateau) with glasses of amazing bubbly.  Typically I am not a Rose’ or even champagne girl – but the Domaine Ste Michelle Brute Rose’ was a truly delightful sipping beverage.  The effervescent bubbles helped to create a relaxing, yet excited mood as we learned about the history of the Chateau and the surrounding vineyards. Learning about the history of the vineyards, the label and the process that goes into the production of each wine was enlightening to say the least.  I am fairly uneducated in the area of wines, only knowing that I prefer whites to reds.  Our tour guide (His name slips my memory) was down to earth and very personable, taking even the simplest questions and explaining in detail and terms that even myself – a midwest born wine lover – could understand. I was so impressed with the staff at Chateau Ste Michelle, and the care and genuine love they have of their product and the passion they have in sharing that with others. Upon my “return to civilization” I was excited to learn that I was even able to find some of my favorites from the tour in my local wine stores. At this point you are intrigued aren’t you? And you want to know which wines I found that I loved? Well….you will have to patiently wait for the next upcoming post.  In the meantime, enjoy your holiday with the help of Chateau Ste Michelle’s Holiday calendar!  In such a crazy time of the year, it’s never been more important to go to Your Chateau. This holiday season, Chateau Ste. Michelle wants to help you find that time or place where You can become You again.
