Document Update

As you can see we have a NEW way of getting and printing your monthly menu documents. As part of that change, we have also changed the type/size of labels we use. The above labels will print four to a page and line up with Avery 8168/5168 labels or equivalent.

Test Cooks

Each month we have some wonderful volunteers who “test” out the menu prior to publication. They do an amazing job of helping to eliminate confusion and mistakes. They may not catch everything but they sure do catch A LOT! If you are interested in test cook, feel free to volunteer. Here is a little bit about this month’s test cooks:

  • Jami Palmgren - I’m a SAHM of 2 teens and a tween. I’ve been once a month cooking for more than 15 years and couldn’t imagine a more efficient, cost-effective method of feeding my family.
  • Annie Wrigg – Annie is a librarian in rural Minnesota. She enjoys walking her dog and teaching yoga. You can often find her hiking in a state park.

Get Started

Are you new to Once A Month Meals or once a month cooking (oamc) in general? If so, you might want to spend a few minutes (or hours) on the Get Started Series. If you are in a real hurry to catch on we have written some simple steps for getting started. Welcome!

    The first three recipes that I opened contained dairy as an ingredient. Of course I could make appropriate substitutions, but with recipes like duxelles (which relies on the butter (or ghee, which is casein, but not dairy-free)) and the peppercorn cream (which relies on a base of cream cheese), I am disappointed. I could easily substitute many recipes that I already have in this same fashion. If next month’s gluten-free, dairy-free menu is not more focused on recipes without those ingredients, I will be cancelling my membership.

      Hi Doughty! We actually make these substitutes changes inside the recipe cards for you. For example, the peppercorn cream actually uses a dairy free cream cheese on the recipe card. Is it the dairy free versions you are requesting less of or are you looking at the actual links and didn’t realize we had made changes?     I was just looking at the Chipotle Quinoa Fritters recipe. I am looking for Gluten free recipes for my mom, who is suddenly dealing with gluten intolerance. This recipe appears in the Gluten Free/Dairy Free menu but contains bread crumbs and greek yogurt. I was confused by this.

    I love this site! I used it all the time before I was gluten free and I can’t believe I didnt think to look for GF meals! I am so happy you shared this on the Gluten Free Blog Hop so I could find you again. My mouth is watering…

    I can’t get the recipe cards to load – each time I click on the button above I get the labels or the thaw sheet… I am very new to this, so maybe I am doing it wrong! Please help :)
