Grilled Vegetarian Cheeseburger Wraps

I’ve never had a “real” patty melt. But I love everything about them (except the meat!)…yummy cheese and maters. And then to turn it into a wrap by replacing the bun with a crispy grilled tortilla? Perfection! And, bonus, the kids thought these were awesome! My 3-year-old said the beefy quesadilla was yummy and the 2-year-old asked for more “pizza.”

Vegetarian Grilled Cheeseburger Wraps

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups beef substitute
  • 1 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 teaspoons dried minced onion
  • to taste pepper and salt
  • 5 each flour tortillas
  • 1 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cups tomato, sliced
  • to taste yellow mustard

Directions:

Brown ground beef substitute in large skillet and drain. Add soy sauce, ketchup, dried onion, and salt and pepper to the “beef” and simmer for 5 minutes. Sprinkle shredded cheese down center of each tortilla. Add a few heaping tablespoons of the beef mixture on top of the cheese. Spread some mustard on top of the beef along with some slices of tomato. Roll up tortilla burrito-style and place wraps on preheated indoor grill. See freezing directions.

Freezing Directions:

BEFORE grilling, divide wraps among freezer bags and freeze. To serve: Thaw. Grill wraps about 5 minutes until cheese is melted. Cut on diagonal and serve.

    Hi!! This looks yummy!! Questions! Is the picture using the meat substitute?? I’m hoping to try this out, and hoping to fool my family so they don’t suspect anything LOL!! Did you use the rice cooker method as mentioned in the meat sub recipe? I’m wondering if I can cook both the rice and lentils together in the rice cooker?
