HELP! I Need to Get Organized!
We returned from vacation Saturday night and I walked through my house turning on this, putting away that and generally trying to make sure that everything was “okay”. Have you ever been in a space and then gone away from it for a time only to return and find that you see it through another set of lenses?
I have had several projects on my “to do” list and have even set deadlines for myself this summer, but folks I’m not going to lie, when I walked through my house I was appalled and ashamed. There was a layer of dust on everything. The kids rooms were in shambles (on the project list). There were toys strewn about the living room, kitchen and bathroom.
I decided it was high time that I do something. So Sunday morning I completely cleaned the living room, cleaned out the refrigerator (of all old contents and washed it down), TOTALLY unpacked ALL of our stuff and put it away (I can say without a doubt that has NEVER happened that quickly), and started laundry. Meanwhile, hubby cleaned out the car, worked on all the dishes I just created from clearing the refrigerator and helped to entertain the kids.
It. Felt. Good. There is so much more to do but I have a tackle list for everything now. Including finally tackling the kids rooms. And just in time to help with how to tackle this project is eBay Classifieds (haven’t heard of them, read what I wrote in early spring)!
Tomorrow, June 10th at 8:30 pm EST there will be a twitter chat (#eBCchat) with professional organizer Monica Friel of Chaos to Order (@chaostoorder), who will discuss multitasking and organizing with children. Um, yes please! Feel free to join in with me if you struggle with how to organize your house WHILE your kids are around. To find out more you can visit the eBay Classifieds Twitter Chat schedule. And if you are looking to score a free label maker, now might be the time because they are giving some away to participants in the chat.
I’ve posted some pictures to show you my current state of disarray. And hopefully to create some accountability over the next few weeks to get it cleaned up!
