OAMM Update: The Future is Looking Bright

Whether you have been around here for four minutes or four years, we hope you have come to this site with freezer meals on your mind and found resources that met your expectations. In some ways it is hard to believe that it has been four years, but in other ways it seems like this site has just begun.

This spring marks the changing of seasons outside but also around this site. As spring gives way to summer, you will start seeing some unique and exciting changes coming your way. What changes? Watch the video (above) to find out!

When we make these changes, you should note that our CURRENT members will receive the greatest benefits functionally and financially.

If you didn’t watch the video yet, we would love for you to take 5 minutes of your time to hear more about what is in store.

Yay! Mix and match. As soon as those are launched I will be a lifetime member! Having picky eaters with autism, I really need to be able to always focus on items they will eat.

  2. Robin says:

So excited about the Mix & Match! I made a great investment!!

  3. Erica says:

I am excited about the mix and match menus as well as the updates to make the site easier. I won a membership last fall and have been faithfully using it to do once a month cooking every since! I love it! We have cut our grocery bill nearly in half, and taken much of the stress out of family meal preparation. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the membership through the giveaway last fall!

  4. Love, love, love!
    Huge congrats on the progress!

  5. YAY! I’m so excited about this! Congrats, guys!! Lots to look forward to!

  6. Jeanna says:

So happy about the metric measurements coming – I joined a couple of weeks ago but haven’t started cooking yet as it seems a major job converting from pounds to kilos. Can’t wait for this to take effect!

Working up my courage to jump into this. Have meant to for years. The thing I am struggling with is the throw and go concept. I can’t cook a breakfast casserole for 1.5 hours on eating day. Whereas the recipe for ham cups is perfect, bake then freeze and a quick reheat. For weeknight meals, I also need mostly cooked items that can be reheated. We need to eat within an hour of getting home, and I am unlikely to remember to thaw in advance. While it is easy enough to adapt some of these recipes for more cooking on the Big Day, the hard part of course is figuring out the instruction list and staging well. Experience will help. Will the mix and match also merge the instructions sequences? That would be amazing. Would it be feasible to have both throw and go AND fully cooked options?

I can’t go into details about what the future looks like but I am sure you are going to be able to have what you need. As for right now, there is likely what you need as well. Very rarely do the menus have breakfast casseroles (some do though), most of our breakfast are heat and go. In addition, all of the lunch options are heat and eat as well (they get cooked on cooking day if needed). Our theory with lunches are you should be able to make them in a lunch microwave. So you could use the lunches for dinners in the scenario you are needing.

Will the mix and match go across previous menus as well, or only those for that month?

Had my first cooking day last week and it went well, was more difficult because i mixed and matched on my own. I am excited about continuing this process!

  12. Jeni says:

Ya’ll are so innovative! You should definitely be proud :) I may become a paid member in the future. These updates sound pretty enticing.

  13. Jane Corley says:

when will mix and match start?

  14. cathrine carnes says:

I just became a member and I am so excited to start my big cooking day (I am a Jump in Julie but wont be with this!) Looking forward to the mix and match as I am vegan but my whole family is not so I would love to be able to have that flexibility! Thanks for the great site!!

    • katie says:

Hi Cathrine, I can’t wait to hear how your cooking day goes! Feel free to check in with any questions. :)

  15. Amanda LaFleur says:

I love love love my membership! Some months I do a full menu and some a mini and I love making the New Mom Mini Menu to all my new mom friends… it’s the perfect baby gift! Can’t wait to see all the new changes!

  16. Nicole Gunderson says:

I would really love to have an option to use an app that might give me access to the menus or recipes that I will be using each month. I primarily use my ipad to store all my recipes and use it frequently when cooking. Having the ability to have all the recipes at my finger tips rather than in binders or separate sheets of paper while cooking would be a lifesaver for me and others i’m sure. I’d be willing to pay $10-$15.00 for an app that was user friendly and allowed me to access my monthly mix and match menus, or any of the other menus, and allowed me to sync grocery lists to my iphone to take with me to the grocery store. I like being able to check things off my list with one touch rather than having to carry a pen and paper.

    • Kelly says:

Hi Nicole! I can say yes, that is in the future and will be sooner than you think. Our new system that we are launching soon will be more mobile friendly, give you the ability to mix and match, and save your custom menus. Hang in there it’s just around the corner!

  17. Pepper says:

I’m very interested in becoming a member, but with all the new changes, maybe I should wait? Or just do a monthly membership? I would also love an app. I was watching the videos and am planning on using ziplist. I looked into mealboard, but sounds like ziplist may be the way to go. Will this still be used or will you be your own app?

    • katie says:

Hi Pepper! Welcome. It would be in your best interest to become a member now instead of waiting and if you can, yearly is the way to go to get the best benefits. Because our new system has been made possible by our members, there will be some perks for those already a member when the new system comes out. The new system will accomplish what you are looking for from ziplist and an app. If you have more questions, you can always email us as well! info at onceamonthmom.com

Is there a launch date for when the update will come out? For some reason I thought it was the middle of August, but I am not seeing anything about it.
