Document Update

As you can see we have a NEW way of getting and printing your monthly menu documents. As part of that change, we have also changed the type/size of labels we use. The above labels will print four to a page and line up with Avery 8168/5168 labels or equivalent.

Test Cooks

Each month we have some wonderful volunteers who “test” out the menu prior to publication. They do an amazing job of helping to eliminate confusion and mistakes. They may not catch everything but they sure do catch A LOT! If you are interested in test cook, feel free to volunteer. Here is a little bit about this month’s test cooks:

  • Tasha Hite - I am happily married and I am a mother of twin boys(12) and a daughter(10). I am a child care provider for 4 other children that I have been watching for 16 years. I just started homeschooling my boys this year and next year will be homeschooling all 3.  
  • Magen Speegle - I am a married 28 year old (no children at this time) living in the southeast. I work full time as a research analyst/event coordinator for a neuroscience research group at a university.
  • Stacy Whitaker – I am a military wife and mom to three precious little girls. In my free time I love trying new recipes, reading, and exploring Alaska with my family.

Get Started

    There is something wrong with the calculations on the Chocolate Strawberry Crumble bars. The recipe from OAMM was for 2 people. It looks like the calculation engine attempted to divide everything in half and then some from the original recipe, but then recommended 2 8×8 pans for the recipe. The original recipe was suited for an 8×8, so half would be like the bottom of a loaf pan. I was able to pick them up to freeze them, but they are extremely thin and crumbly and lacking in both strawberries and chocolate, as these “layers” are very, very thin due to the portions suggested in the recipe.

      Thank you so much for your feedback Sarah. When cooking for 2 people, our system will to try to divide into 2 8×8 baking pans. My suggestion would be that if you are cooking for 2 people consistently, you might try buying foil loaf pans instead of 8×8 pans. Again, we appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

      The chocolate strawberry crumble recipe was so good that after I made the first batch, I multiplied up four times and made enough to serve to my book group (who raved) and a movie party later in the month.

    I’m a new member, so this will be my first time cooking one of the menus. I’m almost done with the planning stage and am planning to buy groceries tomorrow. I have one question so far.

    Where are the sides?

    The menu seems to be mostly meat main dishes. I’m going to need to supplement quite a bit to have veggie side dishes to go with my meals.

    I love OAMM! Is the nutritional information per serving listed anywhere here? If not, would love it if the nutritional information per serving was listed for each recipe. (For recipes that call for tree nuts, it would be even better if this info could be listed with and without tree nuts, a common allergen.)

    I have made the pulled pork (as a dinner) and the sweet potatoes spinach bacon burgers. They were delicious! This is the first time trying out the recipes before doing a big cook day. Now I can’t wait, we are having the cod recipe tonight and I assume it will be just as good as all the others! Thank you so much for making this easier for a mom of three with a newborn. I hope to use these recipes when I return to work to make things easier.
