Update: This menu is now available in Menu Builder in addition to the Google Docs below!  As you can see we have a NEW way of getting and printing your monthly menu documents.  As part of that change, we have also changed the type/size of labels we use. The below labels in Menu Builder will print four to a page and line up with Avery 8168/5168 labels or equivalent.

Each month we have some wonderful volunteers who “test” out the menu prior to publication. They do an amazing job of helping to eliminate confusion and mistakes.     Most of the meals I have made from this website have been really good. However, the Slow Cooker Beef Stew from September Paleo Menu was truly awful! So bad that we thought it was rancid.

    I followed the directions on the recipe card, froze it, and thawed it in the fridge. I didn’t put it into the crock pot until the 4th day that it had been thawing in the fridge. Do you think that maybe it went bad? It had way too much liquid in the stew! My daughter took one bite and said “Gross!” We had to throw it out.

    Any advice? Thanks

    I have a current membership but it isn’t allowing me to access the grocery list :( What am I missing?

      Hi Lacey! Can you email us at info at onceamonthmeals.com so we can troubleshoot? When you do, if you could send your username and then let us know if it’s letting you into the other documents. If you could also check if it’s letting you into the grocery list on the Traditional menu so we can rule out whether it’s something directly related to the Paleo menu. Thanks!

    I’m a new member and I am having trouble with the spreadsheets. I push the link to get to the recipe cards or the grocery list, but when I try to “make a copy” under “File” that option is not available. I don’t see any link for Google spreadsheets.??

      Hi Maria, sorry for the troubles! Are you in the recipe card page of our site for the Paleo Menu? Then there is a link there that should say Paleo September 2013 Printable Recipe Cards click on that and it will take you to the google docs page where you will be able to save a copy and adjust your servings. I can say however that this process is going to get much shorter come Tuesday!

    OK, so I was able to download
    to excel, but could not “make a copy” I could change my portions, but the recipes were not complete. The sentences were cut off even in landscape. Maybe its my computer? Or should I just wait until Tuesday?

      No Maria you should make a copy within Google Docs and in your copy you can adjust the servings and also print from there so the items don’t get cut off.

    That’s the option I don’t have. When I go to the file screen, I see the “make a copy” option, but it’s greyed out. you cant select it. It must be something with my computer, I will keep working on it.

    OK, I got it straight. I am not sure what fixed the problem, but first I turned off my pop up blocker, then I registered into google docs in another window. Thanks for the help!

    I’m going to be attempting my first time at OAMC tomorrow and I’m still working on the Sept menu. I wonder if I found a glitch in one of the spreadsheets. When I enter “4” as my quantity, the shopping list indicates that I need 40 chicken breasts. It seemed like A LOT so I counted each recipe card. Besides the whole chicken, I counted 32 whole breasts and 6 cups of chopped breast. Does 40 breasts sound right for 4 people?

      Yes it is correct. This month’s menu happens to be heavy on chicken. Remember though our menus make two meals of each recipe. It’s calculating on average one chicken breast per person per meal. This may go farther in some homes, like my sons share one chicken breast.

    The recipe card instructions and the reheating instructions for Italian slow-cooker chili do not match. The recipe card says to combine all ingredients except onion. The reheating instructions say to brown the meat with the onion and then add all other ingredients. Which is correct? I’ve already followed the recipe card instructions, so I hope that is the right one!

    On the instructions the last two recipes didn’t update to show 4 servings despite the yellow box being changed to 4 and all other recipes adjusting correctly. Also, the Italian chili has different reheating instructions on the recipe card and on the label.

      Hi Marie, yes follow the instructions for the chili on the recipe card. I’ll change the label now. And what recipes are you referring to? Some won’t adjust because they are calculated that way like the muffins, we promise you’ll have plenty :)

    Thanks Kelly! I did take that into account. I just didn’t think that 6 cups = 8 breasts but I trust ya. I’m 1 hour into my big day of cooking and everything is going smooth so far. I’m so excited to taste the end results.

      It’s okay Monica, I did this menu and had a bit of a sticker shock moment when I saw that too. I promise it will be worth it! You’ll do great! We’re here to help if anything else comes up.

    Kelly I have another question for you. Not sure if its an inconsistency or misunderstanding on my part. For the Creamy Spinach Chicken the shopping list said I needed 64 oz of baby spinach. The recipe card says 38 cups. When I convert cups to oz I get 38 c = 304 oz. HELP!! I have the spinach on the stove as I type. Thanks!!

      Yes well you have to think about spinach, it comes in 8-10 ounce packages (if you buy it in the bag) but it doesn’t really equate to a cup like you measure. And it will cook down a TON! You’ll have plenty with what you bought :)

    If the Orange Chicken is supposed to be a lunch, shouldn’t it be in more than merely two 1 gallon bags for 4 servings (4 servings x 2)? I’m thinking it should go in quart bags since it’s a lunch.

    I know this is an old menu, so maybe someone who has already cooked it can confirm for me the amounts in the spinach with chicken.

    This essentially equates to 1lb of spinach, one can of coconut milk, and one cup of chicken per serving. That seems like a TON of food!

    Especially when I’m feeding a family of 6. I know spinach really wilts down, but a pound per person? And a whole can of coconut milk per person?

      Hi Jessica, yes that recipe appears to be off. The chicken part was right but the creamed spinach ingredients had the servings amount wrong. I just updated it so the amounts will be different on your recipe card and grocery list.

        Whew! That’s much better! I can input my shopping list into my grocery store’s app, and after I updated the correct amounts, my total dropped $50! Thank you for correcting that!

    I’m also confused as to what happens with the conversion when the recipe can’t be altered, it looks like the grocery list gets altered but it doesn’t line up with the recipe. When I entered 2 servings, in the grocery list it says to buy 9 apples but then on the prep sheet it says you need 2 peeled and sliced, 8 diced, and another 3 peeled and diced. The chicken seems off too. The prep list says to boil .68 kg of chicken breast, but then dice .68 and then dice .45….. Can you please clarify?

      Melanie- I double checked the amounts for this menu and they are correct. The chicken amount is correct, however weights do vary from cooked to raw, so that is most likely why it seems off! Let us know how your cooking day goes!
