Slow Cooker Cheeseburger Meatball Sandwiches

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium egg
  • 0.25 cups onion, minced #1
  • 0.25 cups bread crumbs
  • 1 Tablespoons steak seasoning
  • 15 ounces tomato sauce
  • 0.5 cups green bell pepper, diced
  • 0.5 cups onion, diced #2
  • 2 Tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 Tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 1 Tablespoons worcestershire sauce
  • 0.25 teaspoons garlic salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1 teaspoons chili powder
  • 6 each hoagie rolls
  • 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Directions:

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, egg, onion #1, bread crumbs and steak seasoning. Using a spoon, round into meatballs and place on baking pan. Bake at 350F for 20-25 minutes. In slow cooker, combine tomato sauce, green bell pepper, onion #2, brown sugar, mustard, worcestershire, garlic salt, black pepper, and chili powder. Remove meatballs from oven, drain fat and place in slow cooker. Spoon sauce over meatballs. Cook on high in slow cooker for 2 hours. Serve meatballs on hoagie rolls, then top with cheddar cheese.

Freezing Directions:

Prepare meatballs and sauce per above directions. After cooking on high in slow cooker for 2 hours, allow to cool. Remove meatballs from slow cooker and divide quart freezer bags. Divide sauce into pint freezer bags. Place one sauce bag in each meatball bag, label and freeze. TO SERVE: Thaw. Reheat meatballs and sauce in microwave for 1-2 minutes. Serve meatballs on hoagie rolls, then top with cheddar cheese.
