Test Cooks

Each month we have some wonderful volunteers who “test” out the menu prior to publication. They do an amazing job of helping to eliminate confusion and mistakes. They may not catch everything but they sure do catch A LOT! If you are interested in test cook, feel free to volunteer. Here is a little bit about this month’s test cooks:

  • Katie Funseth - Katie is a new mother currently living in the Midwest with her husband and daughter. She enjoys hiking, traveling and cooking.
  • Nancy Lewis – I work full-time and volunteer for several community groups. I’m married to a triathlete who’s currently training for Ironman and a mom of two growing, active boys. I enjoy cooking and want to put healthy, nutritious, and delicious meals on the table for my physically active family. OAMM helps me accomplish that and still find some “me” time to do the things I enjoy like running, triathlon, and reading.
  • Stacey Lorenz – I’m a stay-at-home mom to four great kids. I love to cook healthy from-scratch recipes for my family!

Are you new to Once A Month Meals or once a month cooking (oamc) in general? If so, you might want to spend a few minutes (or hours) on the Get Started Series. If you are in a real hurry to catch on we have written some simple steps for getting started. Welcome!

This is my first time. This site is great but I was hoping to find more vegan options in the Vegetarian Menu ( I have the Pro Membership). My husband and I are both vegan. We tolerate a little cheese here and there but that’s it. Here in Tel Aviv, there is this big vegan movement :-).
We both work outside of the house and are mostly looking for dinners.
Would you please add more vegan options or at least ways the veganize the menu in the future ?
    Thank you very very much

Whenever I need to make a recipe vegan, I use brewers yeast for the cheese (or a vegan cheese) and almond or coconut milk for any milk. For eggs, I use flax seeds and water. I also use vegan butter. It’s pretty easy to veganize a recipe on your own–you just might have to get creative if you don’t have vegan products available to you.
