Are you a person that likes to see the menus visually? Perhaps you should check out the January 2013 Whole Foods Menu via Pinterest to see the yummy goodness you will be cooking up on this menu. Not sure what Pinterest is all about, check out what Once A Month Mom has to say about it.

Test Cooks

Each month we have some wonderful volunteers who “test” out the menu prior to publication. They do an amazing job of helping to eliminate confusion and mistakes. They may not catch everything but they sure do catch A LOT! If you are interested in test cook, feel free to volunteer. Here is a little bit about this month’s test cooks:

  • Kari Romine - I am a stay at home mom of 3, and I love to cook. I strive to feed my family healthy, quick, and inexpensive meals, and once a month cooking allows me to do that with out spending all day every day in the kitchen.
  • Erica Hite - I’m a stay-at home mom to two boys (1 and 4-year-old) and part-time freelance graphic designer. I’m always looking for quick and delicious meals to prepare that are healthy and make my family’s bellies happy.

Get Started

Are you new to Once A Month Mom or once a month cooking (oamc) in general? If so, you might want to spend a few minutes (or hours) on the Get Started Series. If you are in a real hurry to catch on we have written some simple steps for getting started. Welcome!

I am having a horrible time accessing this website. I have been trying for 30 minutes to access the shopping list and I keep getting that the website has a programming error or that it is under construction. Can someone offer any assistance? I really want to try this. Thank you!

Yes it does appear so. It usually comes back up in short order but patience is appreciated. We are working to isolate and fix the problem.

Used the Whole Foods menu for my very first OAMM cooking month and SUCCESS!! I did it last week and am LOVING not only not having to cook a meal every night but also not having to prepare a menu before I grocery shop for the week. We are having our first child in May and I’ve been looking at OAMM for over a year and finally took the plunge. Using the grocery list and instructions made it so easy. It was a long day and I spent 2 hours chopping the night before and 8 hours cooking and packaging on my cook day but it was worth every minute. I’m looking forward to making OAMM a part of my normal routine! Thank you!!

So far everything I have tried from January’s menu has been great, however I have a question about the egg rolls. I would love to take these to work to eat on my lunch break, but the directions that came with the recipe say to heat in the oven for 10-15 minutes. I do not have access to an oven at work, but I do have access to a microwave. Has anyone tried to microwave these? How did they turn out?

Hi! We just finished our cooking day. We decided to do this menu since all of the recipes sound good. We put a 2 in the yellow box for 2 servings and the recipe card only had us make 4 egg rolls! That seems like a pretty small serving for 2 people for lunch, especially since we like to eat the lunches more than once. I just wanted to point that out in case it was an error. Maybe we are just pigs! :)
