    1. I grew up on a farm. For eggs to be considered DAIRY the chickens would need to have mammary glands. Eggs are not a dairy product. They are an animal by product and the title just says this dressing is dairy free.

    2. Eggs may be in the dairy case at the grocery store, but they are NOT dairy, because dairy only comes from the milk glands of mammals.

      1. Eggs are not dairy. I have a child allergic to dairy in my classroom (for the second year now) and she eats mayo everytime we serve it. I have talked to her mother and doctor about what she can and can’t have and eggs are not on the list of can’t haves. Just saying foe clarification.

    3. mayo from the store DOES have dairy but it is NOT from the eggs… it has lecithin in there as a stabilizer… That is where the dairy comes from…

  1. Oh my this is wonderful! I can’t thank you enough. I am both dairy and egg free for my little guy with allergies. I used vegenaise in place of mayo. This is the first thing I’ve made or purchased that actually satisfies my ranch dressing craving.

  2. Thank you for this recipe, it is delicious and easy to make and a lifesaver as I love to eat fresh raw vegetables as a healthy snack but can no longer have dairy and need something yummy for dipping. If anyone is interested in making homemade mayonnaise and have a food processor, here’s a link to a recipe for that: http://www.drbenkim.com/recipe
    thanks again,
    Lori

  3. I’ve made this dressing twice now and both times it’s come out very thin, almost like water…is it because I used regular milk?? Any suggestions!? (Otherwise VERY delicious!)

  4. Made the vegan version tonight and found that 1 tablespoon of milk (soy) was just enough to make it a true dressing consistency. Thanks for providing my dairy/egg allergic son a nice alternative to regular ranch dressing!

  5. What kind of non-dairy milk do you find works the best? I have coconut milk in my house – sweetened and non-sweetened. Thoughts? I also use veganaisse – FYI my husband says that veganaisse tastes the same as mayo.

  6. I am using this for a recipe that calls for a ranch dressing mix packet. Do you have any idea what the ratio is compared to a store bought packet?

  7. this is AWESOME. my boys (both allergic to dairy) LOVE it. Perfect for veggie dip to get the older one to eat more veggies and great for the younger one when he doesn’t want to eat his meat. I’m a ranch-aholic, so when I had to go dairy free during nursing, this was the BEST recipe I found. still prefer to use it even though I do not have to be dairy free.

  8. Love the recipe!FYI – Eggs are NOT dairy. Dairy includes products made from milk – primarily cow’s milk. Just because eggs are in the “dairy case” at the grocery, they are NOT dairy.

  9. Love the DF ranch! On the milk issue I use coconut milk with apple cider vinegar added to it to make it like a butter milk. It adds a good flavor. To make it I use 1 cup of coconut milk and 1 table spoon of apple cider vinegar and let it sit for about five minutes, but this only stays good for a week.

  10. Wait, you forgot one key ingredient in ranch dressing….MSG! Lol. This is a great substitute….I keep a huge mason jar of it at all times!

  11. I have a 16 yr old son who is allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, gluten, and canola . He would give his right arm for ranch dressing !!! I tried this recipe with the soy free vegenaise and it is delish !!! Couldn’t tell the difference. He is a happy boy !!! thank you !

  12. This is delicious. Unfortunately, it doesn’t taste like the (meh) stuff my son is used to from the grocery store. I think the dill isn’t too kid-friendly if they’re not used to it. Personally, I think it’s exceedingly better than the store bought, and I love the dill! I will just tweak it and see what I can come up with. Thank you!!

    1. You can make your own garlic salt to cut back the salt. I just googled it the other day and found all the websites said it’s a 3 to 1 ratio of salt to garlic. You can play with that ratio to find what works for your family. I made my own garlic salt to use in this recipe using the 3 to 1 ratio and it worked.

    1. Hi, Shelley. For next time you might want to try adding in the milk a tablespoon at a time to have more control over getting a consistency you like. If you are trying to save a batch you recently made, you might add in a little more of the mayo or could try adding in a couple tablespoons of a dairy free sour cream.

  13. Has anyone actually put this in the freezer? It sounds weird to freeze ranch but I am using soy milk only for this recipe so the rest of the container goes to waste? My daughter likes almond milk for everything else.

  14. This is the BEST dairy free Ranch dressing I have tried! I used unsweetened original almond milk and it worked great. It totally satisfies the ranch craving and is so cheap to make! Big win at our house.
