  1. Save the drained juice from the can of beets and place it in a small saucepan.
  2. Add remaining ingredients, except beets and bring to a boil.
  3. Pour boiled liquid over beets.
  4. Chill for several hours.

  1. I have pick;ed 4 largish jar of beets and find that they are too heavy for me to lift without pain. Can a de-cant and freeze? Vickie

    1. Hi Virginia, You take the can of beets and drain off the liquid. Then that liquid (not the beets) goes into a saucepan along with the cloves, vinegar, sugar and cinnamon. Once it boils, pour it over the beets. Chill it. Then divide it all among the bags including the liquid. Hope this helps!

    1. Yes, we typically recommend freezer bags to maximize space in your freezer. But you can certainly freeze beets in Tupperware. It may discolor it a bit, similar to a tomato based recipe – but it won’t affect the quality of the beets.
