Join the discussionIf I used regular flour in this recipe would I need the xantham gum, or is that only if I use gluten free flour?
If you use regular flour no xanatham gum is needed. We do have this recipe for homemade poptarts as well http://onceamonthmeals.com/fre…
Thank you!! The additional link is very helpful. I think I will still make my own dough, I like to use as little preservatives in my cooking as possible. These look amazing!
Can use bob mills one for one gf flour and omit the xanthum?
Hi, there! If the flour you are using to replace the FG flour has xanthan gum in it, you may be safe to go without it. However, if it does not -it may not hold up as well. We’d love to hear how it goes for you if you give it a try!
Can i use coconut oil instead of dairy free butter?
Melinda – If you do try this – please let us know how it turns out! You can always use butter or margarine as well.
Melinda, did you try using coconut oil instead of DF butter? I’m curious about your results.
I tried this with coconut oil today with good results. The dough was very hard upon removal from the refrigerator and the dough was a little crumbly, but if you don’t mind a rustic look to your pastries, they turned out nicely!
Meredith – Thanks so much for sharing your adjustments. Coconut oil would be a great sub for the dairy free butter! I have made these quite a few time for my family, and I did find that I had to let the dough sit for a few minutes after removing from refrigerator to be able to roll out.
Can i use fat free milk instead of almond milk?
Yes you certainly can Jamie! I have done that before, and it has turned out great!
Would a toaster work to reheat these? We don’t have a microwave
Yes, Audrey, a toaster would work just fine. Enjoy!
Can you use Almond flour?
Yes you can.
U can use margerine instead of df butter
