Vegetarian Bacon Avocado Melt

Ingredients

  • 1 medium peel and pit Avocado
  • ½ teaspoons Season Salt
  • ¼ tablespoons juice Lime
  • 4 individual slice Sourdough Loaf
  • 4 individual Provolone Cheese, Sliced
  • 8 individual cook Bacon, Vegetarian
  • Serving Day Ingredients

    These ingredients are added AFTER your meal has been frozen — for the day you serve and eat it.

  • 1 teaspoon Olive Oil

Make It Now Cooking Directions

These directions are for cooking this recipe to serve immediately and NOT to freeze for later.

  1. Mash avocados and add seasoning salt and lime juice (to prevent browning).
  2. Lay out half of bread and top with half of cheese slices.
  3. Top with avocado spread, bacon and other half of cheese slices.
  4. Lay other half of bread on top.
  5. Grill on griddle or in skillet with olive oil, about 3-5 minutes per side (until cheese is melted and sandwich is sealed).

Why would I want to freeze this?

  1. Mash avocados and add seasoning salt and lime juice (to prevent browning).

  4. Lay other half of bread on top.
  5. Wrap in plastic wrap and divide among freezer bags. Label & freeze.

  1. This looks delicious. I have never made my own bacon, I always buy the store kind. However, the base we live at now has the gross hot pink play dough looking “bacon” and I just cannot get over the colors. I will have to look into making my own.

    1. You’re right, that doesn’t sound too appealing. The bacon recipe is relatively simple. It comes out a deep brownish-red color…no hot pink play-doh here! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. This bacon and avocado melt sounds delicious! I didn’t use to like avocado and then on a trip to California I tasted it again, and now I can’t get enough of it ๐Ÿ™‚
