Just discovered this site, very eager to try this but I’m a novice cook and have to accommodate a very fussy eater who will not eat spicy food. Suggested substitute for hot sauce?
Sarah- I am not a big fan of spicy food either – and I typically just omit the hot sauce in recipes, letting the family members who do enjoy a little spice add it on after serving.
I wouldn’t omit the dressing altogether but you might want to add a little extra liquid if you omit the hot sauce. You could try BBQ sauce, ranch dressing, or even an italian dressing.

Join the discussionI left off the meat, but truly enjoyed this recipe. Thanks for sharing
I think the October crock pot spicy chicken would work good with this
That does sound good together!
By “hot sauce,” do you mean salsa or Tabasco? That seems like a lot of Tabasco type hot sauce in the dressing.
TIA
Brette – You can use a Tabasco – I typically use Frank’s brand hot sauce – but whatever your preference.
Yes, Frank’s hot sauce is a great choice.

Thanks Lisa – so just to clarify, you would omit the dressing altogether or just make it without the hot sauce?
