Hi, Andrea! This recipe calls for a lot of cream cheese, so we wouldn’t recommend trying to make it without it. If you’re feeling very adventurous, two ideas for different cream cheese substitutes are: “1 cup pureed cottage cheese [or] 1 cup plain yogurt, strained overnight in a cheesecloth” for 1 cup of cream cheese. We’re really not sure how this will turn out but would love to hear your thoughts if you give it a try!
Since it is added on the day of cooking, the dairy free version on cream cheese would likely be awesome. We are trying it, you might like it too. 🙂
