Join the discussionShould these be thawed before cooking, or are they ok to cook from frozen like the Jimmy Dean ones?
We suggest to thaw in the fridge overnight. Enjoy!
How long can they be in the freezer for? I’ll be using freezer bowls.
In terms of safety, they will be fine for at least a year. In terms of quality, we recommend no longer 3-6 months.
My bowl are pretty moist with liquid being left at the end, how to I get rid of moisture?
Well, you can cover the bowl with a paper towel when you microwave to absorb some moisture but that is pretty typical. It helps to keep it from drying out.
I scaled this up as follows:
4 tablespoons Vegetable Oil
4 cups Hashed Brown Potatoes, Diced, Frozen (happens to be one full package)
12 individual Egg
3/4 cups Water
⅛ teaspoons Black Pepper
⅛ teaspoons Salt
¼ teaspoons Garlic Powder
16 oz tube of Sausage, Breakfast
2 cup Cheddar Cheese, Shredded
1. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil.
2. Cook hashbrowns on skillet for 5-7 minutes per side, until browned.
3. While hashbrowns are cooking, cook sausage for about 5 minutes in a separate skillet, ensuring it is completely brown.
4. Remove hashbrowns from skillet and set aside (you can put it in the sausage skillet, if you want to).
5. In a bowl, combine eggs, water, pepper, salt and garlic powder.
6. Pour into skillet and scramble until cooked through.
7. Remove eggs from skillet and combine in a large bowl with ground sausage, hashbrowns and cheese.
I put mine in glass containers for freezing. It made 8 good size servings.
These can be heated in the microwave from frozen. Cook on high for two minutes, stir, and cook on high for another 1 1/2 minutes.
Thanks for sharing your adaptions with us, Richard! This sounds like a great breakfast!
