A few weeks back High Plains Bison asked if I wanted to try their grass-fed Bison meat. Considering that my step-father just asked me if I had ever tried Bison meat and how much he loved it, I thought it might be fun to try it out for myself and invite them over to join us for a feast. Well, today was that day. We grilled out (yes, I did that to my husband in this 90 degree heat). We started with the Bison Italian Sausage. Hubby cooked it in a skillet in a little beer. Then he moved it to finish up on the grill. We also grilled up a couple of ribeye steaks. As a rule of thumb, I’m not very adventurous when it comes to trying new meats. But I have to write an honest review right? So I gave it a try. And boy, am I glad that I did. It was the tastiest sausage and ribeye that I have consumed. Ever. It was so tender and not fatty at all. And that sausage, oh that sausage was amazing. I promise I am not an adventurer with too many foods, but it really was that good! Now is it frugal? Not so much. I’m not planning on serving it every night for dinner and I for sure can’t afford for us to have it on a regular basis or in the OAMM menus but I am pretty sure that I am going to be requested to order some more real soon. If nothing else, I think we need more of that sausage! High Plains Bison has a whole catalog of items to choose from and packages as well. They deliver almost everywhere so don’t think you have to be located near a bison farm to enjoy some. I live in Ohio after all. My meat came packed in dry ice and was perfectly frozen when it arrived. If you are looking for a bit of a tasty culinary adventure consider giving High Plains Bison a try. Anniversary, birthday or special event/celebration coming up with a steak lover in your life? Try ordering them some steak! This past week’s menu plan was a bit skimpy because I was on a weird and unexpected eating plan. I have been having some nausea issues (no, I am not pregnant again) and went to the doctor on Tuesday. He felt like it was a stomach virus and suggested I only consume clear liquids for two days and no dairy for a week. Needless to say, I didn’t really feel like cooking everyone else dinner and my husband graciously told me not to worry about them while I was dealing with not being able to eat. That was sweet. So my menu got “pushed” a little bit. Monday – I CAN NOT for the life of me remember! Tuesday – Hubby surprised me with a date night and I was on clear liquids. Wednesday – Clear liquids for me 🙁 Thursday – Panera for work night – Fuji Apple Chicken Salad (minus the feta) & Chicken Noodle Soup for me! Friday – Miami County Fair (yes, that means lots of greasy fries!) Saturday – Lunch – Ate at our favorite It’s Just Crepes
Dinner – Pizza Soup
Sunday – Lunch – Bison Ribeyes, Garlic Potatoes
Dinner – Curry Chicken Wraps (recipe coming soon)
