Welcome to February!

**This post is part of the Get Real series. Please remember that this is meant as a learning community. We know that many of you are passionate about what you do and we want you to express that, just please do so in a way that will be an encouragement and aid to others making a transition. We want this to be a “safe space” for participants to learn. For that reason, we reserve the right to delete any comments that are not handled in this manner.

Sunday is our normal posting day for Get Real, but since we have started on a new month, I wanted to give you a little update and let you know where we are at thus far and where we are headed for the next month. We continue this week with recapping our January journey. If you haven’t done so, please do. Also, if you pledged in January you will be receiving an email with information on re-pledging (no worries, you don’t have to fill in all the same info again) for February. We are taking this series seriously and are helping you to keep track of where you have been and where you are going.

The last month our winner of the $200 Grocery Gift Card was Dana Stoerkel (Pledge #296)

3,533 pledged participants in January!

Also, we want to thank our guest blogger for January, Lisa Leake of 100 Days of Real Food for teaching us and encouraging us to create new pantries focused on Real Food.

As for February, as we embark on our journey through grains, we have some wonderful leaders. First off, we have Jo-Lynne Shane, who has been a whole foodie for some time. She is going to walk us through some simple ways you can get started baking your own breads. She is wonderfully down to earth and one of the most approachable bloggers I have ever met, so I know that you are just going to love having her along for this leg of the journey. And if bread making scares you, I am SURE that she can  help you face your fears.

We also have Bread Becker’s as our company sponsor, and they will be introducing you to the idea of milling your own grains to prepare breads. This might be for those that have tackled their fear of breads, so don’t worry too much if you aren’t quite to this point yet. However, Bread Becker’s has some eye opening information about grains that I am sure you will both enjoy and find fascinating. They also have a wealth of resources available on their site including training videos which is the main reason that they are our sponsor for this month. You will undoubtedly feel more confident about baking breads having watched some of their classes.

And did I mention that Bread Becker’s is going to be giving away a grain mill or a mixer (winner’s choice) to a pledged February participant? Make sure that you get pledged (and yes, you have to renew your commitment this month) for February. (It is a just a few short questions for returning pledges).

So let’s roll into February with a commitment to get our hands doughy and our counters floured as we dig deeper into Grains and Breads.

Sponsor: Bread BeckersOne pledged Get Real participant will be winning a grain mill OR a mixer, winners choice! ***This giveaway is now closed.***
