These directions are for cooking this recipe to serve immediately and NOT to freeze for later.
- Place all ingredients besides pork and apples into a blender. Pulse until combined.
- Transfer to a saucepan and simmer for 20 minutes over medium low heat.
- Place roast, apples, and sauce in the slow cooker.
- Cook on low for 6-8 hours.
- Remove and shred pork with 2 forks.
- Stir pork back in.

Join the discussionI’m not clear on how the items get divided between the two freezer bags.
This recipe makes 8 servings, so you will want to divide the ingredients between 2 freezer bags (to make two 4-serving meals). You will prepare the sauce, then place half of the sauce in each bag; then you will put half of the apples and the pork in each bag and seal.
If you cut the pork shoulder into cubes, this translates into a instant pot recipe easily. Just place all in IP and pressure cook for 35 mins or so (I have an 8qt) and let natural release.
