These directions are for cooking this recipe to serve immediately and NOT to freeze for later.

  1. Place all ingredients besides pork and apples into a blender. Pulse until combined.
  2. Transfer to a saucepan and simmer for 20 minutes over medium low heat.
  3. Place roast, apples, and sauce in the slow cooker.
  4. Cook on low for 6-8 hours.
  5. Remove and shred pork with 2 forks.
  6. Stir pork back in.

    1. This recipe makes 8 servings, so you will want to divide the ingredients between 2 freezer bags (to make two 4-serving meals). You will prepare the sauce, then place half of the sauce in each bag; then you will put half of the apples and the pork in each bag and seal.

  1. If you cut the pork shoulder into cubes, this translates into a instant pot recipe easily. Just place all in IP and pressure cook for 35 mins or so (I have an 8qt) and let natural release.
