Make It Now Cooking Directions

These directions are for cooking this recipe to serve immediately and NOT to freeze for later.

  1. Cook sausage in a skillet until cooked through.
  2. Let cool on a paper towel.
  3. Combine pancake mix, cornmeal and cinnamon in a large bowl.
  4. Add egg, vanilla and water, one cup at a time. Continue adding water (could be more than called for if batter is too thick) until batter is thick yet manageable for dipping.
  5. Add vegetable oil to a large pot and heat to 350 degrees F. The oil is ready when you drip batter in and it sizzles but does not brown/ burn.
  6. While the oil is heating you can put the sausages on the sticks.
  7. Dip the sausages (on a stick) into the pancake batter. Allow excess to drip off.
  8. Place the dipped sausage into the oil for 2-3 minutes. Using tongs or a spoon, turn constantly to ensure the sausage pancake stick does not stick to the pan.
  9. Let cool on a paper towel.
  10. Serve with warm maple syrup for dipping.
