Make It Now Cooking Directions
These directions are for cooking this recipe to serve immediately and NOT to freeze for later.
- Combine pasta, lentils, peas, rice, and onion soup mix together.
- Place a large pot over campfire burned down to coal bed or campstove at medium high heat with vegetable oil (cast iron conducts and retains heat well).
- Add meat and brown on all sides, about 5 minutes.
- Add a small amount of broth and scrape to deglaze pan (remove brown crusty bits).
- Add remaining broth and diced tomatoes and bring to a boil.
- Add in pasta mixture and simmer covered for 30-45 minutes. Stir every 10 minutes or so to make sure it isn't burning on the bottom.
