Chicken Ziti

<p>This was a family favorite growing up that my mother used to prepare. It is a creamy casserole dish with hidden veggies!</p>

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons Butter
  • 1 cup dice Celery
  • 1/2 cups dice Onion
  • 1/2 cups grate Carrot
  • 4 ounces Sliced Mushrooms, Canned
  • 1/8 cups Flour, All-Purpose
  • 2 1/2 cups Milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Tarragon, Dried
  • 1/4 teaspoons Black Pepper
  • 8 ounces Cheddar Cheese, Shredded
  • 4 3/4 cups cook Ziti
  • 2 cups cook and dice Chicken, Boneless Breasts
  • 1/3 cups Bread Crumbs

  1. In a saucepan melt butter over medium heat.
  2. Add celery, onion, carrots, and mushrooms. Cook until tender, but do not brown.
  3. Stir in flour. Add milk, salt, tarragon, and pepper.
  4. Cook and stir until mixture boils. Remove from heat.
  5. Stir in cheese until melted.
  6. Combine cooked pasta, chicken, and cheese sauce.
  7. Pour into baking dish and top with bread crumbs.
  8. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes.
