Join the discussionThe freezer recipe says to add nutmeg, but the original and the ingredients don’t…how much nutmeg?
Yes sorry 1 teaspoon all have been updated now.
Yummmy! This sounds fabulous & I mostly have all the I ings. However, I only have boneless pork chops instead of the loin. I’m guessing that would still work, except maybe a shorter cooking time? I’m planning to use my 2 qt crock pot to adjust some for the smaller pieces of meat and I’ll only be cooking for 3. Think that will work?
Yes, that would definitely work. Let us know how it turns out!
We just finished eating them for dinner tonight and they turned out wonderful. The only real difference I could see is a shorter cooking time. Probably 4-6 hours on low instead of 6-7. I would really recommend this recipe to anyone, whether you have the exact ings or not 🙂
I wanted to love this recipe but it just isn’t our style. I absolutely hated the apples. By the time they came out they were limp and just blah. Apparently I don’t like my tenderloin sweet.
Molly, my husband feels the same way about his meat being sweet and fruity while I happen to love it. Sorry you didn’t enjoy it!
I notice on some recipes ingredients are combined and frozen to be cooked later. I thought idea was cook and freeze?
Hi Betty! Not all recipes are cook and freeze. This is what we like to call an “easy assembly” or throw and go. You can quickly put it together to freeze for another day. Then it’s also an easy crockpot recipe that you can throw in and go about your day. You most certainly can cook the recipe and then portion and freeze it so you can simply reheat later.
Do you need to add water to crock pot when cooking this?
Hi Dayna, no you don’t have to but if you wanted to, you could add a cup. Enjoy!
Wondering if this is just “one” meal or a few. The directions say to divide into as many freezer bags as indicated? Am I missing something? I don’t see how many freezer bags I’ll need. I’m hoping just one as I’m preparing to feed 5 or 6. Thanks!
Hi Kristie, this recipe will feed 8 people. If you are going to freeze it, then you will need two gallon freezer bags.
Just wanted to say this looks so good! And for anyone who was curious, it looks like 8 WW Points Plus based on my calculations (with the roast cut into 8 serving).
No offense but it was not good . The taste was just too different for me .
This recipe sounds delicious! Even though I’m not a big pork eater, I firmly believe everything has its place (pepperoni, anyone?). I’m personally not a lover of red delicious apples; I hate its tough skin. I would probably substitute gala or fuji. I’ll let you know how it turns out!!
I think Gala apples would be great with it. Can’t wait to hear!
I LOVE apples with pork, being raised in England, we would applesauce with pork all the time. Now that summer is coming my crock-pot will be living on my kitchen counter because it will be way to hot to put the oven on. I’ve never thought to use honey but am excited to try it.
What a nice memory, thanks for sharing Angela. Let us know what you think of the recipe with the honey. Also, have you checked out the instant pot yet? I am excited to use that this summer and not even have to turn on the oven! https://onceamonthmeals.com/bl…
Can I cook this in an instant Pot?
Hi Kirsten — You can totally cook this in the Instant Pot! Check out our Instant Pot version for this recipe: https://onceamonthmeals.com/recipes/instant-pot-honey-apple-pork-loin/
Happy Cooking! ~OAMM
Could this be done with thick pork chops?
Hi Gabrielle! It definitely seems like it could work – maybe just layer the apples and spices around/on top of the chops! Let us know how it turns out!
