These directions are for cooking this recipe to serve immediately and NOT to freeze for later.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet, and brown the sausage pieces.
- Remove from the heat and set aside.
- Using the sausage drippings, add the onions to the pan, stirring to coat. Season with salt and pepper.
- Cook until the onions have started caramelizing and softening.
- Add the sliced peppers, garlic and Italian seasoning and cook until the peppers softened.
- Return the sausage to the pan, add the chicken broth and cook until the sausage has heated through and the liquid has reduced.
