Join the discussionI have to say that this does not look very appetizing. But I’ve been meaning to try one of these detox drinks. So I may try this recipe. 🙂 My husband and I are wanting to get healthier this year, for sure. 🙂
Courtney – I was a little unsure of it as well – we love smoothies, but had never done one with greens. I was pleasantly delighted by the taste and texture!
I like the idea of blending then freezing. I leave for work very early and this would allow me to have a smoothie in the morning without running the blender and waking my boys up. I can’t believe I never thought of this before. doh!
Julie,
No need to freeze before drinking. Just add 8oz. of crushed or cubed ice to the blender during mixing and it will give you a frozen consistency, that you can drink right away!
One might also be able to just add water and frozen cubes smoothies, without a need to thaw. what are your thoughts? think this might work?
Yes – it might work that way. Let us know if you try it, and how it turns out!
When I first started “green” smoothies I would but them in a cup I couldn’t see through until I got over how they looked. May help some of you others with the sme problem!
My new favorite smoothie! Minus the flax, celery and ginger, since I didn’t have any, and I used the juice from a whole lime and orange, added apple juice to thin it to the right consistency! Tastes amazing! Thank you
Oh that sounds like a delicious addition!
I didn’t have celery or ginger on hand, or flax seeds, but I substituted chia seeds for flax and just added about a cup of water. Using frozen pineapple this turned out to be a great smoothie consistency and was delicious! I’ll definitely make it again. Wish I had the ginger.
So glad to hear you enjoyed it, Kayla!
