Freeze For Later Cooking Day Directions

Easy Assembly/Dump and Go

These directions help you cook or prepare this meal PRIOR to being frozen for serving later (see Serving Day Directions when you are ready to prepare it to eat).

Why would I want to freeze this?

  1. Divide ingredients among indicated number of freezer containers in the order listed. This will prevent browning of the apples.

Make It Now Cooking Directions

These directions are for cooking this recipe to serve immediately and NOT to freeze for later.

  1. **Due to the nature of pressure cooking there is always room for inconsistency. The times given here are based on 4 servings fresh. If you are using more servings you may need to increase your cooking time.**
  2. Place ingredients in the inner pot in the order that they appear.
  3. Lock lid and cook for 15 minutes on high pressure.
  4. Naturally release pressure for 10 minutes then release any remaining pressure.

  1. No stirring of ingredients and no sticking by putting them in the order as stated? Also no concern for the alcohol under pressure? I have not cooked with any alcohol in the IP so I am curious about it. Thanks

    1. Kandy, thanks for the question! This, along with all of our recipes, are thoroughly tested by test cooks before ever being made public. While we do understand that sometimes with IP recipes, experiences can vary, we have done our best to list instructions that will yield a consistently cooked meal. If you find that you are having a different experience with a recipe than what is listed, we encourage you to let us know so that we can retest. And as far as the alcohol. we have not had any issues with this small amount being added. But you could definitely substitute broth, apple juice or water if you are concerned.

  2. The bourbon apple and pork combination is so tasty, but the boneless chops were not tender. I cooked the ingredients fresh, not frozen, and when I went back to check the recipe to see what I had done wrong, I noticed that the cooking time for both the fresh and frozen versions is 15 minutes. I want to make this again, and I’m wondering if you have tried the fresh version using a shorter cooking time. Thanks!

    1. Sandy, I’m sorry that you didn’t have a great experience. There are so many variables when cooking in the pressure cooker, (the thickness of the chops, altitude, kind of container they are frozen in etc.) that getting exact times can be difficult. If you are cooking from fresh next time, try only setting it for ten minutes and checking after that time. We would prefer that you need to add a few additional minutes, than for your meal to be overcooked! I hope that helps!
