Make It Now Cooking Directions

These directions are for cooking this recipe to serve immediately and NOT to freeze for later.

Freeze For Later Cooking Directions

These directions help you cook or prepare this meal PRIOR to being frozen for serving later (see Serving Day Directions when you are ready to prepare it to eat).

Why would I want to freeze this?

  1. Divide the chicken among the indicated number of freezer containers.
  2. Mix together the honey, soy sauce, broth, and garlic until the honey is well incorporated. Pour over the chicken.
  3. Divide the broccoli among the indicated number of gallon freezer bags.
  4. Label and freeze together.

Make From Frozen Serving Day Directions

These directions help you cook or reheat this meal AFTER it's been frozen for when you are ready to eat it.

  1. Thaw: Prep from frozen
  2. **Depending on your container size/shape and your serving size, you may need to adjust cooking times given as it is based on 4 servings frozen in indicated container.**
  3. Place the chicken in the Instant Pot.
  4. Rinse the rice in a mesh stainer and transfer to an oven safe dish that will fit inside the Instant Pot.
  5. Add water #1 to the rice and cover the dish with foil.
  6. Place the dish on top of the trivet and lower the dish down on top of the chicken.
  7. Lock the lid in place and seal the steam nozzle.
  8. Cook on high pressure for 15 minutes.
  9. Natural release the pressure for 10 minutes.
  10. Carefully remove the rice bowl. The bottom of the bowl will have sauce on it, so transfer the rice to a clean bowl or set it on the foil.
  11. Turn the Instant Pot to saute. Mix together the cornstarch and water #2 until smooth. Stir until the sauce thickens.
  12. Rinse broccoli in warm water. Stir the broccoli into the sauce and let it warm through, switching to saute if you need to speed up the process.
  13. Serve over the rice.
