Make It Now Cooking Directions

These directions are for cooking this recipe to serve immediately and NOT to freeze for later.

  1. **Due to the nature of pressure cooking there is always room for inconsistency. The times given here are based on 4 servings fresh. If you are using more servings you may need to increase your cooking time.**
  2. In a large bowl combine ground turkey, garlic, applesauce #1, green onions, almond flour, apples, cayenne pepper, salt #1, and cinnamon.
  3. Form into rounded tablespoon sized meatballs, and place in Instant Pot.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together apple juice, coconut aminos, ginger, applesauce #2, arrowroot flour, salt #2, pepper and nutmeg. Pour over meatballs.
  5. Lock lid into place and seal steam nozzle.
  6. Cook on high pressure for 6 minutes.
  7. Naturally release pressure for 5 minutes then release any remaining pressure.
  8. Change setting to saute for a few minutes to thicken sauce, if desired.

  1. Every one does not have – nor want – this Instant Pot. Why not give directions to just make these meat balls in the normal way; using a slow cooker or in the oven. How can I do that?

    1. We totally understand that not everyone has or wants an Instant Pot so we do have many recipes for meatballs (and other meals) that do not need the IP.

Here is a quick search that I did on our site for meat balls in the slow cooker (crock pot): https://onceamonthmeals.com/recipes/?s=meat+balls&serving_day=slow-cooker

Here is a quick search that I did on our site for meat balls baked: https://onceamonthmeals.com/recipes/?s=meat+balls&serving_day=bake

Here is a quick search that I did on our site for meat balls (made in all ways): https://onceamonthmeals.com/recipes/?s=meat+balls

Hopefully one of those searches includes a yummy recipe that will work for you. Enjoy!

    1. Hi Janet, I think so, these are delicious! They have a wonderful cinnamon apple flavor and the turkey is super moist cooked in the Instant Pot. I serve with Broccoli! Let us know how it turns out for you.

  2. When you say “peel and grate”, “peel and mince” do you mean peel these items and then grate them? Is this a medium grate?

    Thank you!

    1. Hi Janet, You are absolutely correct, when we say peel and grate, you would peel first and then grate. Hope this helps!

    1. Great question, Nancy! In looking at the ingredients, you’ll see we listed applesauce twice (#1 & #2). This is because not all of the applesauce is used at once. When following the directions, you’ll introduce applesauce #1 in one step and then applesauce #2 in another step. If you need further help, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us in LIVE chat! 🙂
