Join the discussionTo clarify, are the beans dry or already cooked?
These would be beans cooked from dried (as opposed to canned), if that helps clarify. 🙂
Can I put just dried beans in (and alter the cook time) or do I HAVE to cook them first?
I am confused with your question because the recipe calls for dried beans. Will you please clarify?
Do you use dry beans or dry beans that you already cooked? When says dry beans, to me, means Not cooked at all. So, can you clarify please? Thank you
Dry beans that have already been cooked. We apologize for any confusion!
Is the meat meant to be pre cooked as well? Or can it be frozen raw with all of the ingredients and then just cook in the instant pot all at the same time?
The meat is meant to be precooked in this recipe
Can I use canned beans as a substitute for dried?
We haven’t tried it, but yes, you can make that substitution. However, you’ll want to adjust the amount of liquid and cooking time. We would recommend using the Instant Pot site to determine cooking method and time for dried versus cooked beans when you adapt the recipe.
LOVED this recipe!! The only thing I would change is adding more sweet potato. It gave it such good flavor and I was disappointed with every bite that didn’t contain sweet potato LOL! We omitted the onion since my son has an onion allergy, it was still very good 10/10, highly recommend.
We’re glad this was such a hit! Definitely sounds like you need to add more sweet potato next time! Ha!
