Make It Now Cooking Directions

These directions are for cooking this recipe to serve immediately and NOT to freeze for later.

Freeze For Later Cooking Directions

These directions help you cook or prepare this meal PRIOR to being frozen for serving later (see Serving Day Directions when you are ready to prepare it to eat).

Why would I want to freeze this?

  1. Cook the pasta according to the package directions.
  2. Meanwhile, melt the butter in a skillet. Cook the kielbasa, onion and garlic until the sausage begins to brown. Set aside.
  3. Whisk together the milk, egg, black pepper and salt. Set aside.
  4. Place the peas in a colander and drain the boiling pasta water over the peas.
  5. Return the pasta to the pot over medium-low heat along with peas. Pour in the milk mixture and cook for 2-3 minutes or until it begins to thicken.
  6. Slowly add the shredded cheese, stirring constantly.
  7. Stir in the kielbasa mixture.
  8. Allow to cool.
  9. Divide among the indicated number of freezer bags. Label and freeze.
