  1. In a large bowl, stir shredded apple #1 with celery, poultry seasoning, pepper, and salt until blended.
  2. Mix in honey, chicken, and crumbled cooked bacon #1. Combine until well mixed, but do not overmix.
  3. Shape chicken mixture into 1/2-inch-thick sliders, using 1/8th pound of meat per slider.
  4. Cook sliders on prepared grill 4 minutes on each side or until chicken is cooked through.
  5. Slice apple #2 horizontally to have a full circle shape "bun".
  6. Serve sliders on sliced apples with a strip of bacon (Bacon #2).

  1. I made these over the weekend and they are delicious! I used 1 1/2 apples because the apples I got were big, ground turkey rather than chicken, and no celery because I didn’t have any. I also used Wildtree’s Herb Grilling Marinade seasoning (1 1/2 tsp)instead of poultry seasoning. It’s a blend of sage, thyme, marjoram, etc. The flavor and texture of these burgers were great. I formed small meatballs, flattened them a little, and baked them in the oven for about 20 minutes since my oven was already on for another recipe.

  2. New to this OAM cooking…Need to eat on the run most mornings. Could I freeze after cooking, warm up in the microwave and eat on the way to work/school?

  3. Making these as I type! The only thing I changed was that I did not add celery as I don’t like the taste. Quick question though, my mixture was quite wet, is there anything you can suggest adding to thicken it up a bit to make shaping the patties a little easier?

  4. LOVE THESE!! They are perfect for grilling and then freezing. I’m just making my second batch now and I did add a bit of almond flour and I strained a bit of the apple juice out while I was grating the apples. Its a little less gooey so I think they will grill even better. Thanks for this recipe! So great to have something a little different for breakfast!

  5. I tried these tonight & used onion & bell pepper instead of celery. I used sweet basil instead of poultry seasoning. I loved them & I plan on making some & freezing them for my daughter to take back to her dorm. With only a microwave it is a challenge for her to eat healthy.

  6. This is my absolute favorite so far from our first month cooking. Swapping this in so we make it for next month as well– and I may double it, too. Delicious!I cooked these in our toaster oven on broil with convection turned on– took 4 minutes on one side, 5 on the other. Shazam, delicious.

  7. LOVE this recipe! Thought I’d add my variations.For the apples, instead of grating (I find they produce too much juice), I dice them up with a knife as small as I can.For those who don’t like celery (including me), I dice that up as small as I can too…you can’t even taste it that way. :)For broiling in the oven, I do it middle rack to prevent burning. It does require a little more time…about 6 minutes each side.

  8. I was nervous about these because they were so, so wet – they almost were like little piles of mush. They turned out perfectly though and were delicious. I cooked them on the griddle. I was skeptical, but wow – this recipe is a keeper.

  9. These were excellent. I agree they are a little wet when first made. I cooked then on the stove top instead of the grill. The frozen ones I will try on the grill. i did not add the bacon since it does not agree with me. I did put bacon on Dh sandwich. I used mayo and sweet chili sauce for mine. Excellent!

  10. I’m curious on the nutrition facts. Where is the 40 grams of fat coming from? Not trying to avoid fat it just seems like a lot of fat for 2 chicken sliders. Thanks!

    1. The majority of the fat is coming from the bacon, which in this recipe is both in the chicken burger as well as on top. You could leave the strip of bacon off at the end if you wanted to decrease the fat. Hope that helps!
