Pigs in a Blanket

"Pigs in a Blanket" are a childhood favorite my mom often made when I was a kid, and are now a lunchtime staple with my kids as well.

Ingredients

  • 7 ½ ounces Refrigerated Biscuit
  • 8 individual Hot Dog
  • 4 individual American Cheese, Slices

Directions

  1. Unroll biscuits, then use a rolling pin to flatten.
  2. Cut a slit lengthwise down the middle of each hot dog.
  3. Place a half slice of cheese in the slit.
  4. Place cheese-stuffed hot dogs in center of dough and roll dough around hot dog, pinching to seal. Place on a greased baking sheet.
  5. Bake at 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and no longer doughy.

Why would I want to freeze this?

  1. Unroll biscuits, then use a rolling pin to flatten.

  4. Place cheese-stuffed hot dogs in center of dough and roll dough around hot dog, pinching to seal. Place on a greased baking sheet.
  5. Bake at 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and no longer doughy.
  6. Allow to cool.
  7. Divide among indicated number of gallon freezer bags. Label and freeze.

Serving Day Directions

  1. Reheat in microwave about 60 seconds or until heated through.
