Make It Now Cooking Directions

Stove Cook

These directions are for cooking this recipe to serve immediately and NOT to freeze for later.

  1. In a large saucepan melt butter over low heat.
  2. Add marshmallows and stir until fully melted.
  3. Remove from heat.
  4. Add crisp rice cereal and stir until all is well-coated.
  5. Divide between 2 greased 9x13 pans.
  6. Press mixture down with wax paper until you have a fairly thin layer.
  7. Let set for an hour.
  8. Cut into squares/ rectangles or use a cookie cutter to achieve desired shape(s). You will need an even number.
  9. Place wax paper down in a separate 9×13 pan and place ice cream on the wax paper.
  10. Using another piece of wax paper press the ice cream down until it completely covers the pan.
  11. Freeze for at least 2 hours or until the ice cream becomes firm again.
  12. One side of the crisp rice treat can be decorated in any way desired.
  13. Remove the 9×13 pan from the freezer and using the same cookie cutter shapes cut out an ice cream shape.
  14. Place a crisp rice treat shape on the bottom, followed by the ice cream shape and topped with the decorated crisp rice treat shape.
  15. Serve.

  1. Hmm, one of my favorite all time snacks is rice krispy treats. I can even have them still as a diabetic. Wish I could get a campaign like that! How lucky you are!

  2. My in-laws make krispy treats for easter with little egg shaped gum drops. They spend quite a while cutting every little egg in half and then stir them into the mix towards the end.

  3. Ohhhh – I LOVE this idea! You’re right too, endless variations on this with colors and toppings and such!
