Sausage and Apple Stuffing

  • 10 1/2 cups dice Sandwich Bread, Whole Wheat
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 3/4 cups cook Ground Italian Sausage
  • 2 2/3 cups dice Onion
  • 1 1/3 cups dice Celery
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Season Salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Sage, Dried
  • 1 teaspoon Parsley, Dried
  • 1/2 cups Cranberries, Dried
  • 1 cup dice Apple
  • 1 cup Chicken Broth/Stock

  1. Spread wheat bread chunks in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees just until evenly toasted.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil and add sausage, onions, celery, seasoned salt, sage, and parsley.
  3. Add cranberries and apples and continue to cook for 5 more minutes.
  4. When bread has toasted, transfer to a large bowl.
  5. To large bowl add sausage mixture and chicken broth, stirring to combine.
  6. Divide mixture between indicated number of 8x8 foil baking pans and cover with foil.
  7. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes covered.
  8. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes.
