Make It Now Cooking Directions

These directions are for cooking this recipe to serve immediately and NOT to freeze for later.

Freeze For Later Cooking Directions

These directions help you cook or prepare this meal PRIOR to being frozen for serving later (see Serving Day Directions when you are ready to prepare it to eat).

Why would I want to freeze this?

  1. In a large dutch oven over high heat, heat the canola oil.
  2. Season the pork with salt and black pepper.
  3. Add pork to the dutch oven. Sear on all sides, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  4. Place the pork into the slow cooker.
  5. Turn the heat to low. Add the onions and garlic and saute for 3-4 minutes.
  6. Add the onion, garlic, chicken broth, salsa verde, beer, green chiles, kosher salt, cumin and oregano to the slow cooker. Stir well to combine.
  7. Cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 5-6 hours.
  8. Remove the pork and shred.
  9. Stir the pork back into the slow cooker. Cook until heated through.
  10. Let cool.
  11. Divide among the indicated number of freezer bags.
  12. Seal, label and freeze.
