Anna Lucia – We encourage you to thaw in the refrigerator, and recommend about 2 days in advance.
How many calories is the orange chicken?
Terri – only our diet recipes contain nutritional information on the recipes. However, this is the tool we use to calculate.
That looks delicious! I bet the tomatoey ketchup and orange juice make a great glaze. I make these Asian Chicken Thighs from Taste of Home that have some of the same flavors – wonder if they could be done in the slow cooker? http://www.tasteofhome.com/rec…
I think the above recipe would be easily adaptable to a slow cooker! Just put the chicken thighs in the bottom and the sauce over the top!
I would like to try it out with chicken legs and chicken bone in chicken breast!!
That would totally work!
This is a good sauce with chicken, but we really enjoyed this with beef!
I think beef sounds great too. Thanks for sharing!
6 hours prep AFTER freezing? I need things that take < 5 minutes to prep after they are frozen. What is the point of all this?
Hi Aaron! I totally understand- sometimes you just need something quick and easy. The beauty of this meal is it goes in the slow cooker so you can throw it in the crockpot in the morning and the work is done for you. If that doesn’t work for you, you could always cook it in the slow cooker first and then freeze it fully cooked. Then you could just reheat. Hope that helps!
We loved this! I followed the recipe exactly. I will definitely make it again! It was so easy!
I’m allergic to oranges. What could I substitute?
You could certainly substitute apple juice in this recipe.
Is this skin on thighs or skinless? Does it matter?
We used skin on thighs.
it says 1/2 ounces apple sauce. Do you mean just 1/2 of an ounce or is it more? Also, just regular apple sauce?
Yes, we mean 1/2 an ounce. 1/2 an ounce would be a Tablespoon. Enjoy!
