The first time I prepared this shrimp, it received rave reviews from all the men in the family. The marinade is a mixture of spicy, smoky and sweet which flavors the shrimp well.

Join the discussionHi! I saw a post of some of your recipes on Pinterest, and I’ve been lurking ever since. I haven’t made any yet, but they sound so good and look so simple, I’d love to try a few. This one sounded really good! But I have a question…I haven’t cooked with shrimp…well, ever, though I like eating them at restaurants. Do you buy fresh or frozen? And if frozen, I would think you’d let them thaw before putting them in the bag with the marinade, right? So they’d soak it up better?I’m still such a beginning cook, most of my questions feel silly to me, but I gotta ask sometime! 🙂 Thanks for all your lovely posts!
If preparing ahead and freezing I would use already frozen shrimp since they are usually cheaper and the marinade will still work as they thaw. If you are preparing fresh, you could use fresh and thawed shrimp and marinade for 30 minutes or so before broiling or grilling.
I too am a beginning chef. This recipe sounds awesome (and the tips about using frozen shrimp is helpful). I am wondering what you eat this with. I am trying to put together meal plans for my first monthly cooking session and am trying to determine what you’d pair this with to fill out the rest of the meal.
I’ve served this as both an appetizer and as a main dish. For a main dish, I’d pair it with a salad or a side of rice.
