Join the discussionDo you think white whole wheat would work in these? I prefer whole wheats, but these look wonderful!
Yes, I think they will.
Nummy – Maybe with apples as well? I make these savory popovers all the time – so quick and easy!
Fantastic recipe. Just in time for our large number of pears ripening too fast. Can’t wait to try it.
Yum those look amazing
Is this recipe for regular sized muffins or mini muffin pans?
Hi Janine, you could do either I think but I always make mine in a regular size muffin pan.
Thank you Katie.
This definitely isn’t the healthiest way to eat these, but… we ate them with maple syrup on top, and they were great!
I made these tonight with apples, but they were super dense and never got crispy. We just ended up picking the apples out to eat. Any suggestions?
You know, I’m not sure. How big were the apple pieces?
you could try it with apple butter instead.
Do you use plain or self-rising flour?
Hey Kim, I usually just use plain all purpose flour.
My popovers were delicious but didn’t puff up. Any ideas?
Maybe the pear pieces were a little too big and weighed them down? Or maybe it was the flour. I’m not sure. I’m glad they still tasted good though!
Is there any nutritional information available for this recipe?
Hi Patricia, we only do nutritional info on the diet recipes right now. You can see the diet recipes here- http://onceamonthmom.com/oamm_…
I see that it says “4 servings”. Does that mean that each serving is 1 popover or multiple popovers? I have a large family, so I’m curious to know how much to increase the servings by.
Hi Kim, that would be 2 popovers per serving so it should make 8 popovers. Enjoy!
Can you use Asian pears?
Absolutely!
I just tried these and I’m not sure what went wrong. They ended up really spongy. I cut the pears really small and left the popovers in for the full 20 minutes. Should I leave them in the oven longer? Or perhaps I put in too much of the filling in each popover? Any suggestions? 🙂
Hi Misty! I think the problem could be that you used too much filling. I’m sorry they didn’t work out for you!
Thanks so much for the advice! I’ll give those puppies another try 🙂
I just made them with purple plums. Sooooo good!!!
Love that idea Sandi! I just saw some in my grocery store yesterday- I might have to try it.
how do you “flash freeze”?
Here is a great article about flash freezing: https://onceamonthmeals.com/blog/series/kitchen-tips/flash-freezing/
Can you make these with gluten free all purpose flour?
Hi Nancy, Sure, I think gluten free flour would work. Try it and let us know how it turns out!
