From Scratch Parmesan Buttermilk Drop Biscuits

  • 1 cup Flour, White Whole Wheat
  • 1 cup Flour, All-Purpose
  • 1 tablespoon Baking Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoons Salt
  • 5 tablespoons Butter, #1
  • 1/2 cups Parmesan Cheese, Grated
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon Butter, #2

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together white whole wheat flour, all purpose flour, baking powder, garlic powder, and salt.
  2. Using two forks or a pastry cutter, cut in cold butter, #1 until the mixture resembles a coarse meal.
  3. You can alternately pulse mixture in a food processor to cut in butter, then return to the mixing bowl.
  4. Gently stir in Parmesan cheese.
  5. Stir in buttermilk until just combined. The mixture will look a bit dry.
  6. If using the dough as a casserole topper, use in recipe as instructed.
  7. To bake biscuits, scoop rounded tablespoons onto a baking sheet.
  8. Bake at 425 degrees for 12-14 minutes, until golden brown.
  9. Brush with melted butter, #2 and serve.
