Smoothies are already quick to make, but by freezing them ahead of time, smoothies make a healthy last-minute addition for an picnic in the park or in the lunch box.

Join the discussionI use frozen fruit in my smoothies – I wonder if frozen carrots & spinach would work. They would have been blanched.
Yes, I do think frozen blanched carrots and spinach would work well in this. Happy blending!
Could you put these in the refrigerator the night before for breakfast the next day or would they get too runny?
They would probably be more like drink than a smoothie.
I am hoping to do some freezer cooking to prepare for the baby I’m expecting soon, and I love the sound of smoothies – especially for my toddler! Question though: what kind of container do you freeze them in? I don’t think I have anything that is portioned like that, but maybe you can buy cups and lids?
I normally freeze them in pint freezer bags – 1 portion per. Then when you are ready to serve just set them out for a bit and they will thaw and become slushie. Then put into cup and serve!
