Pizza Spirals Real Food Makeover - Lunch Version

<p>We've given our traditional Pizza Spirals a little real food makeover! These kid friendly morsels now include lots of nutritious veggies, ground beef and cheddar cheese all wrapped up in a homemade dough.</p>

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 1/4 cups dice Onion, Red
  • 2 teaspoons mince Garlic, Cloves
  • 1/2 cups grate Carrot
  • 3/4 cups grate Zucchini
  • 1 individual Pizza Dough, Whole Wheat
  • 1 cup Pizza Sauce
  • 3/4 cups cook Ground Beef
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese, Shredded
  • 1/2 teaspoons Oregano, Dried
  • 1/2 teaspoons Basil, Dried
  • 1/2 teaspoons Sea Salt

Make It Now Cooking Directions

These directions are for cooking this recipe to serve immediately and NOT to freeze for later.

  1. In a skillet, warm olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add onions, garlic, carrots, and zucchini. Saute until onions are translucent.
  3. Roll out pizza dough on a floured surface into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  4. Evenly spread pizza sauce over dough, followed by the sauteed vegetable mix, ground beef, shredded cheddar cheese, oregano, basil and sea salt.
  5. Roll the dough into a long spiral, then cut into 1” slices.
  6. Place spirals on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and bake at 350 for 18-20 minutes.

Why would I want to freeze this?

  7. Flash freeze.
  8. Divide between indicated number of gallon freezer bags. Label and freeze.
