Chewy Molasses Spice Cookies

  • 3/4 cups soften Butter
  • 1 cup Sugar #1
  • 1 individual Egg
  • 1/4 cups Molasses
  • 2 cups Flour, All-Purpose
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Soda
  • 1/2 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoons Ginger, Ground
  • 1/2 teaspoons Cloves, Ground
  • 1/4 cups Sugar #2

  1. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar #1.
  2. Add egg and beat well.
  3. Add molasses, mix well.
  4. Combine flour, baking soda, salt and spices in another bowl. Add to creamed mixture and mix well.
  5. Chill dough for at least 6 hours.
  6. Shape into 1-inch balls.
  7. Roll in sugar #2. Place two inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  8. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until edges begin to brown.
  9. Allow cookies to cool for two minutes before removing to a wire rack.
