You can still enjoy a meatball sub, use lean ground turkey to prepare the meatballs and use cheese sparingly. These meatballs I always have on hand for either subs, pasta or just on their own. They are easy to prepare a large batch and freeze portions for any day.

Without, rolls can vary too much in nutrition content to include them in the calculation.
These look great! I love the use of oats!
I noticed that when I printed my plan this month there weren’t any serving day instructions for this recipe other than reheating the meatballs. How many rolls do I need? It looks like you top with cheese slices. Do you broil them? I’m assuming that I will need to add the rolls and cheese to the shopping list? Thanks!
Kelly – These are delicious meatballs – a great recipe choice! Sub rolls and cheese are additional ingredients that aren’t listed and you would need to purchase on your own. Depending on what size of sub rolls, will determine how many you need. For 4 servings I would purchase 4 rolls. Enjoy!
Do you really simmer them for 2-3 hours in the sauce if you have already cooked them through in a pan? Seems like they would get over cooked.
Rachel – The meatballs will be cooked through, but the simmering in the sauce will just infuse the flavors even more. You certainly don’t have to simmer that long if you don’t want to!
How many meatballs ? do you make?
Hi Holly,
That’s going to depend on how many servings you are making, as our system customizes your ingredients for your servings. Since the recipe indicates the size (golf ball size) balls – you will want to roll out as many as can with the amount of ingredients as you have.
