Join us for this review of Graeter’s summer ice cream flavors hosted by Tricia’s kids!
Greater’s sent me a big box of ice cream to try. With the kids home from school for the summer, I figured the only thing to do was to throw an ice cream party….on Facebook LIVE!
About Graeter’s Ice Cream
If you are unfamiliar with Graeter’s, they make small batch, gourmet ice-cream that is hand-packed into the containers! They’ve been making delicious ice cream for over 145 years, and are the only commercial ice cream maker that still uses the French Pot method to make their two gallon batches.
Graeter’s uses local dairy products and the finest, gourmet fruit, chocolate, and other ingredients to make their tasty flavors. Forget about chocolate chips – they just pour the chocolate on the finished batch of ice cream and let it freeze, and then mix it in, forming huge chunks of chocolate!
You can find Grater’s at neighborhood shops in the Ohio, Kentucky or a few other places. Or you can purchase at your local Kroger, Publix, Whole Foods, or other grocery stores (search for a store here). If you can’t find any locations near you – never fear! You can have it shipped directly to your house! Instant ice cream party!
Graeter’s plans to further take advantage of National Ice Cream Month in July with its annual unveiling of Summer Bonus Flavors in scoop shops and online for a limited time. Each flavor, revealed every other Monday, offers ice cream fans the allure of an innovative flavor made with the Graeter’s quality they expect. New bonus flavors will be announced on July 25, August 8 and August 22.
Taste Test Results
Here are the flavors we tried and the thoughts we had about them.
Dutch Milk Chocolate – Tessa took 3 bites! But at the end of the day it is her second favorite. Evan says, “Really good!”
Dark Chocolate Mint Crunch – Kiddos do not like mint, but Evan likes the crunchy cookie pieces.
Salted Caramel – Tricia’s choice. This one trumped chocolate and is now Tessa’s new favorite. She went back for more while everyone else was trying other flavors.
Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip – Isaac was convinced to take a chance! And he gave it two thumbs up. Two Facebook followers said that this was their absolute favorite flavor. Here is a prime example of those enormous chocolate chips.
Toasted Coconut Gelato – Evan says she likes it even thought she isn’t a huge coconut fan.
Strawberry – Isaac’s second favorite.
Madagascar Vanilla – Visible vanilla beans. Isaac gives it thumbs up, but he can’t wait for….
Raspberry Sorbet – No red dye!!! (Isaac is allergic so this is the best news of the day!) Isaac says it is a keeper. “Quick, put it back into the freezer so it stays cold!” This is his favorite.
Mint Chocolate Chip – Evan gives it thumbs up. No go for the kids, but they just don’t like mint.
Buckeye Chocolate Chip – Peanut butter and chocolate! Tessa says she doesn’t like peanut butter.
Mocha Chocolate Chip – Evan’s favorite!
That’s all for today! We need to get the ice cream back into the freezer…or our bellies!
