Costumes, Decor and Snacks- Oh My!

Halloween is such a fun time of year for kids.  Not only do you get to dress up in a costume and be anyone you want to be, but you also get loads of candy and treats.  It’s no wonder that Halloween is quickly becoming one of my kid’s favorite holidays.  It can be somewhat stressful as a parent finding just the right costume at just the right price.

Target made my life much easier this year, as I found costumes for everyone in my family all in the same store at a surprisingly low price. They have Superheroes, neighborhood heroes like policemen, firemen and army men, as well as cartoon characters like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to please a wide variety of boy’s interests.  Girls will be thrilled by princesses, fairies, angels and unicorns.  They offer a great new feature that I tried out for fun on my shopping trip.  If you can’t find the size that you need, you simply pull up your Target App and follow the directions to scan the barcode and it will locate the correct size at another Target near you or online.  It doesn’t get any simpler than that.  There are also plenty of accessories in case you don’t need an entire outfit, only tights, a wig, hat or masks.  Let’s not forget about costumes for our furry friends.  The costumes for dogs and cats are getting to be as cute as the kids!  My dog can actually wear wings, a tuxedo or look like a shark or a hotdog.  I wasn’t kidding when I said I could find everyone in my family a costume in one store! Halloween at Target My next item to tackle was decorating the house.  I was thrilled to find decorative pumpkins in a variety of colors!  I like to use pumpkins all season long but the real ones eventually rot.  The pumpkins I bought at Target can even be carved without the mess of a real pumpkin.  My kids were excited to find some smaller battery operated pumpkin lights.  They look so cute in the windows at night and there isn’t an open flame, which is quite a relief when you have little ones.  My son wanted a “spooky” one and my daughter a “funny” one and there were options for each. Halloween at Target The final item on my list was Halloween treats to take to preschool.  First, I found the supplies needed to make iced sugar cookies complete with festive orange frosting and “spooky confetti” sprinkles.  I was also able to find plenty of candy that abides by our school’s peanut free rule as well as non-food items, such as bouncy balls, pencils, erasers, putty and glow in the dark insects to fill goodie bags.  I also was thrilled to find organic treats, dye-free treats and other healthy options to include in the bags.  Target certainly came to the rescue this year for my Halloween needs.  Now I have a little less than a month until the next big holiday!  I’m sure they will once again exceed my expectations.  Expect More.
