By now you are most likely in full holiday swing. Work parties, cookie exchanges, school programs, church nativities, shopping, wrapping gifts, the list is endless. Have you found time to escape from the holiday stress to your Chateau? The daily nudges from Chateau Ste. Michelle encouraging me to savour the season challenge the “do it all persona” that overtakes most of me during the holiday season.
“At Some Point Today, Pour A Glass of Wine, Put Your Feet Up And Daydream About Your Next Tropical Vacation Spot” – that nudge was a welcome change to the frozen tundra that I have been gazing at the last week. Tropical vacation dreaming and wine challenged the holiday calendar – challenge accepted! Nestled under a blanket, next to the glistening tree, with a glass of my Chateau Ste. Michelle’s Eroica Riesling and a few amazing chocolates, my mind didn’t take long to wander to thoughts of white sandy beaches, warm sun shine and the sound of waves gently crashing to shore.
On the subject of Riesling, the December 8th nudge asked what to pair with fruitcake..Riesling of course. I am not a big fruitcake fan, but when served with my favorite Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling my taste buds might change. On my recent winery tour and tasting, Chef John Sarich introduced us to several of Chateau Ste. Michelle’s finest wines, pairing them with several options from salmon to patee to fresh fruits. He did not however mention fruitcake, but did offer a piece of advice – when in doubt always pair with Riesling.
