I hope you had a wonderful 4th of July weekend! For many of you, you may still be enjoying it today or traveling back home. Be safe. I decided last week that I have so many great food/kitchen products to tell you about in any given week that I needed to start writing a bit more specifically for that. So, I have decided to include my food/kitchen related reviews on Mondays in conjunction with Menu Plan Monday. This week I want to announce that I finally used the Fissler Pressure Cooker. If you will recall, several weeks back I asked you for your recipe suggestions for pressure cookers. I had never used one to date and wasn’t sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. It seems that a pressure cooker is the opposite of a slow cooker. A pressure cooker uses pressure to make your dish in a fraction of the time. I know this isn’t original but I used my pressure cooker to make my favorite roast recipes. This recipe normally cooks in 4-8 hours in the slow cooker. In the pressure cooker? It took only one hour. One hour! Craziness. It was so good and so fast. And I had a phobia of pressure cookers. You hear so many stories of people getting burned by the steam or having to gauge the pressure. Not with the Fissler! It was dummy proof. I just locked the lid on, turned on the range and it went to work. There is a button that rises to let you know it is full of pressure and that you shouldn’t remove the lid. When you are done cooking the dish you wait about 10-15 minutes as the button (and pressure) goes down. Once it has, you just remove the lid. So easy. So quick. And the roast was still oh so yummy! And cooking a roast in 1 hour was a near miracle and so easy. I am going to try some of the other reader suggestions the next week or two before I return the Fissler Pressure Cooker to Fissler. I especially like the mashed potatoes idea! What about you. Have you ever used a pressure cooker? Do you have a phobia too?
