You have heard of food styling, right? What about toy styling? No? Well, let me introduce you to the new phenomenon sweeping the preschool blog world! When watching my son several months ago my mother quickly determined that she needed to buy Isaac a kids digital camera for Christmas. She was babysitting for me and during play time Isaac found a recipe card with a picture of a Pepper Steak dish on the front. He grabbed it, set it in the middle of the living room floor, grabbed his play camera and looked at it for a few moments. He then backed up five paces, pulled the camera to his eye and took a shot. One vertical, the next horizontal. He advanced three paces and shot several more photos. He then went to the picture recipe card and moved it to a different location and placed it at a different angle. He stepped back five paces and began shooting again. Hmm, you think that he has been watching me in the kitchen much? So he gets the camera for Christmas and my husband witnesses him begin taking pictures of his toys. He begins with a single block. Determining that didn’t seem to look right (nevermind the focus) he added another. Hmm, that still didn’t seem quite right, perhaps adding another toy would be the perfect combination? This was the last shot. So he either determined it was perfect or he got bored. Perhaps he understands the rule of three’s or odd’s already? Determining that was the way to go he then he tried different angles. Hilarious. Seriously. I had NO IDEA how much my kids were watching me. And it isn’t just mine, it is yours too. What have your kids done that reminded you that they too are watching you? I’m curious because I am certain I am not alone!
Menu Plan Monday
For many, many months now I have been writing our meal plan as it happened the following week instead of our week to come. I have kind of grown old of that system and think I want to go back to planning our week ahead. It has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I *might* not want to show you what our meal plan looked like last week. {blushes} So we are back to looking at the week ahead. Here she goes! Monday – Breakfast for dinner – egg sandwiches, smoothies Tuesday – Birthday party for family members, I’m taking Roasted Broccoli & Garlic and Angel Food Cake with fresh fruit per the advice of my Facebook Fans! Wednesday – Taking Lemon Pepper Tilapia to our House Church gathering Thursday – leftovers Friday – Celebration with friends Saturday – Lunch – Grilled Panini Sandwiches (I am open to suggestions and recipe links)
Dinner – Slow Cooker Chicken Stew with Peppers & Pineapples, rice
Sunday – Lunch – leftovers
Dinner – Macaroni Chicken Bake, salad, easy garlic bread
